Slight problem Spider. You used the word "Honest". Sorry mate it doesn't fit in politics. Their version of honest is not getting caught on video with audio and a thousand witnesses.
Even then most would claim a Bart Simpson. "I didn't do it".
While we have large political parties words like honesty, integrity, equality and fairness mean nothing.
To give you an idea of what sort of voters are out there mate I heard 2 on radio state who and why they will vote.
One old lady said she would vote for Chris Pyne in Adelaide because "He sends me lovely brochures". We know she paid for them but she doesn't and she votes for him because he sends them (Of course he doesn't, a staffer does). Trash mail, taxpayer produced.
Another, in QLD, said she had finally decided to vote for Howard because she didn't like the way Rudd said that he had paid off his mortgage as most would expect after 20+ years of marriage. She said she had been married for 30 years and hadn't paid theirs off so Howard was her man. She was slighted you see.
Now if any of you can create a political movemenet that caters for morons like those two then I'm ready to listen. My only thought is an IQ test but then we have the opposite problem don't we? Too much information.
So there is no logic or reality in many voters minds. They are cannon fodder to large parties. That's why they dominate. They pander to morons.
I've been trying to find the voices of reason etc in this blogosphere and media and there's nothing but BS really. The earnest, real candidates are treated with disdain and ignored, bullied or both. SO they end up like me. Cynical, angry and ready for a fight. But with who?
Try asking an MP to reply to a direct question. What answer do you get? "The Labor Front Bench...", or "We'll look at the details...".
I'm for a new country. Anyone else? Party members not welcome, ever.
