are we talking about the same bob?

Virtual, we obviously have met different men. The Bob Brown I met is inspirational and brought me to tears with his words. Strong, tall, charismatic and confident. As far as I am aware, this is the first election where he has come out and said that he is the "leader" of the Greens. Something that needed to be done, to compete (on equal grounds) with our other "Leaders".

He speaks about the FACTS clearly and "neatly"; without supurfluous generalisations and without the feel good "fluff" and babble of the other two leaders. He speaks like this because he DOESN'T have an unlimited media budget, he understands that EVERY word counts. He gets 3-5 second "news sound bites" because the media are obliged (by law) to give "equal" (unpaid for) time. How many ad's for the Greens have you seen/heard on mainstream media?

When he came to Bundaberg in the last Federal election he spent a good 10 minutes with my family and I, chatting in the heat of my tiny car. I felt very honoured, there were many people eagerly awaiting him. He wrote a full page message to my daughter in a book she still treasures. He also gave me an autographed copy of his book, "Memo for a saner world". Fascinating read, by the way. I recommend it if you want to really know how he ticks.

He is a true gentleman.
Perhaps he came across to you as "timid", because he did not want to offend you (or your opinions).
;-)
