Flamers?

By: PaulDy (Registered ) on 26-10-2007 00:25

This really is a bit rich.

This site states this is an "open opinion" thread".

I responded to Bauple yesterday who gushed about the Greens. I responded telling of my contact with the Greens.

Now I get some idiot accusing me and others of "flaming".

So much for open opinion. This is obviously not an open opinion site at all as honest reactions to treatment by members of the Greens Party is apparently "flaming".

Just advertise the site fow what it apparently is. A site that allows certain comments provided certain people agree with them.

I will, of course, await a response by the site owners on this issue but if they agree with honest comments being "flaming" then I will feel obliged to advertise that elsewhere. In the interests of democracy which actually allows free speech. Anyone remember that?

Yep I'm already fed up with people who feel obliged to defend political Parties regardless of what they do or who they hurt.

Really sick of it. It really though just proves what I said to be true doesn't it? Sensitive litle sausages who are willing to claim the title of "integrity" but not accept the real experiences of myself with Greens.

By the way I did vote Green the last 3 elections but never again.

Flamers

By: jasonw (Registered ) on 26-10-2007 01:43

I have had a quick look and I can't see any evidence of remaining flamers on this thread. Remember if you do consider that any comment has breached our site policies, you can report it to one of us by clicking the link at the bottom of the comment.

Once again, though, to all participants: debate is a wonderful feature of democracy, and we all have a right to passionately argue for our positions. But remember - if you keep your comments civil and free of personal attacks, you'll not only keep the discussion useful, you'll also have more chance of persuading people about your point of view.

Best - Jason - Editor.

Why am I forced to vote?

By: Adults Choose Kids Rtold2 (Registered ) on 26-10-2007 06:25

Don't get me wrong, I would defend my democratic right to vote to the death if anyone tried to take it off me. But why am I forced to vote? Fundamentally it is anti-democratic to force people by law to vote.

I want to be inspired by my political leaders to get to the ballot box, not coerced by law.

Currently I am not inspired enough by any of the parties on offer so why should I flatter them with my endorsement?

Maybe without a 'guaranteed' electorate our leaders in the mainstream parties would appear less smug and more keen to impress. And maybe have different policies at least.

Adults choose their future, children are told what to do.

Once again the battlers are hurt.

By: Duanne (Registered ) on 27-10-2007 04:08

Every week we hear of more and more people losing their homes. Not all people paying a mortgage created their problem by overspending. Interest rate hikes are the main cause of creating the difficulty to maintan the monthly mortgage payments. What is the government (both state and federal) doing to elleviate the problem? Nothing, instead they are allowing prices to esculate to put average Australians suffer more. Wages are not increasing to sustain interest rate hikes.
We need a responsible government who will address all the issues and find a remedy to assist all the battlers and not just the business sector.
