Climate changes

By: kasper77 (Registered ) on 24-10-2007 07:05

I saw a worm today and he said its wet outside.
I saw the same worm a year ago and then he said it was wet outside.
What climate change?
Well if there is a change its not much different to many like it that have happened BEFORE us humans got into the act.
So when you start calling on this mythical beast known as the "SCIENTISTS" to follow etc it may be prudent to listen to all those scientists who disagree with the Gore selfengrandisement campaign.

To think that anybody could listen to that garbage and and not see it for the political stunt it was is just unbelievable.
Grow up and wake up Australia and think for yourselves!
If you want to help the environment then stop driving your car - hell no! See what I mean?

re raven

By: MCDF (Registered ) on 24-10-2007 07:39

Gee raven you are indeed a wise sage, who has clearly taken the time to debunk the false science of climate change.
Raven is what we may call a 'contrarian', and like those still trying to claim saddam had nukes in Iraq, is flogging the dead horse of climate denial.
There is a good website debunking the numerous myths that the climate deniers peddle, which raven has thankfully not attempted to do, instead resorting to a rhetorical flourish.
Check out: http://gristmill.grist.org/ skeptics#Stages%20of%20Denial

Research

By: Doug (Registered ) on 24-10-2007 07:50

kasper77 Can you please state the research that you base your argument on please?

A majority of real scientists believe global warming to be a fact and that it is caused or accelerated by the actions of mankind. This is based on years of research and repeated research tested in scientific journals, what articles have you had published in Science or Nature Journals?

If you do not believe in science why are you using a computer?

Reef destruction

By: Doug (Registered ) on 25-10-2007 07:22

You may not agree with the 99% of world scientists regarding man made gasses causing global warming. But there is no disagreement that the levels of acid in the worlds oceans are increasing at an alarming rate.

CO2 is being absorbed by sea water:

"When CO2 dissolves, it reacts with water to form a balance of ionic and non-ionic chemical species : dissolved free carbon dioxide (CO2 (aq)), carbonic acid (H2CO3), bicarbonate (HCO3-) and carbonate (CO32-). The ratio of these species depends on factors such as seawater temperature and alkalinity (see the article on the ocean's solubility pump for more detail)."

This is causing the corrosion of coral reefs and calcium based sea creatures in oceans around the world.

This alone is a sufficient reason to reduce CO2 in our atmosphere.

Too much self interest

By: raven (Registered ) on 25-10-2007 11:09

"I have been writing my fingers to the bone for a couple of years now, but it appears they are too heavily invested in business as usual".

As I see it Anne from a politicians viewpoint there are not many votes in tomorrow's problems. Give the 'lackeys' what they want NOW to get their vote!

Australia and most of the so-called developed world's population has become impatient and greedy and demands instant gratification and is full of self interest. Pollies know this and pander to it. Mankind is drug induced. Pick your drug...power, greed, respect etc.

Nuclear is a disaster, those that went down that path now tell us how troublesome it is... especially the legacy of its waste.

So in frustration.. what to do...Things have to be changed by action, it still speaks louder than words. Even then.... I remember being anti nuclear as a late teenager [a few years ago] but we have a greater number of bombs than ever before. So did all that young energy spent do any good?

Perhaps we are on a collision course, maybe the doom merchants have a point.. we spiral downward..god help the grandkids 'cause the politicians wont!

There was a time on this planet you were lucky if you hadn't been killed by age 40, now we want to live forever as a teenager. Maybe our planet, as like some farmers, is becoming unsustainable to its inhabitants. The writing is on the wall if you care to look.

And no I'm not a Jesus freak or doom merchant but perhaps Armageddon not too far from a reality.
