Joe Hockey's office recommends workers join a union to protect them from workchoices !!!

By doug Steley,

Continuing on from my apparent unlawful dismissal discused in "IR and the election - a personal view", I have spent the week on the phone to both the workplace ombudsman and the office of Joe Hockey attempting to get assistance for an unlawful dismissal case before the AIRC.

I had been told by the workplace ombudsman that they could not give me any assistance but they then agreed to send a support person to be present at the AIRC meeting to advise me during the meeting.

When the Ombudsman's office found that a union representative would be present at the meeting they refused to attend claiming that the union official would be far more useful to me than anyone the Ombudsman could supply.

I contacted Minister Hockey's office they said there was nothing they could do and that information published on their website was "Probably Wrong".

When questioned as to whether Mr. Hockey had lied in speech assuring Australian workers that the Ombudsman would prosocute breaches of the Workplace Act they refused to answer. I asked repeatedly if Mr Hockey had lied expecting the answer "no." The person I spoke to just simply refused to answer a simple question "Did Mr Hockey lie?"

Their only comment was to follow the the advice the ombudsman had provided me. When I asked if this was correct, that a union was of more use to me than the workplace ombudsman, they hung up.

Joe Hockey false promises for assistance

By: Duanne (Registered ) on 19-10-2007 12:24

It appears neither Joe Hockey, Work Place complaints or the Work Place Ombudsman care about the workers of Australia. The federal government advertising campaign as seen on television is nothing more than a farce in an attempt to fool the people and win votes in the up coming election.
