An open Letter to Mr Churchill, Nationals Flynn

By anne goddard,

Dear Mr Churchill

As the National Candidate for Flynn, can you please tell me:

1) If you will support nuclear energy for our region?

2) If so, you will also support the storage of the associated waste in our
electorate?

3) Do you support the immediate government investment into the development of Geothermal energy supplies specifically for industry?

4) If you support the concept of all new households having sustainable
energy supplies: ie. wind/solar.

5) If you support the concept that all these households will be able to feed
the excess energy back into the grid at the same price as they "take" from
the grid?

6) Do you support all new households having rainwater tanks?

7) Do you support increased spending on our public transport system?

8) Do you wish to remove government subsidies into private health, private
schools, private enterprises?

9) Do you wish to "give back" those private subsidies to the people who give
you their taxes?
- and supply adequate hospitals with ample beds and fairly paid, well
qualified staff?
- and supply safe and adequate learning opportunities for all of our
children?
- and supply safe and adequate energy and water supplies for your people?

10) Who will you be giving your preferences to?

Reply from the Nationals in Flynn

By: anne_elk (Registered ) on 21-11-2007 03:58

Today I received a written reply from the Nationals date stamped the 15th of November.
It is too large to transcribe in this comment section verbatim, so below is my summary.

There are some rather glaring inconsidencies, particularly if a voter is looking for some honest representation.

Mr Churchill supports "clean coal technology" even though this technology does not exist.
Mr Churchill admits that Nuclear power is not economic, and follows up with stating that there are no proposals to build nuclear power stations in Australia, despite our Government being recommended to do so via their "independent" report conducted by Ziggy whatsizface (who also ensured Telstra was sold).
"However, if people in the region indicated that nuclear should form part of our future energy supplies..."then I would expect a full and proper community consultation to take place."
I am glad he would "expect" so, as it hasn't happened yet.
He goes on to say how such "consultation" would be well informed and balanced by science, environment and personal concerns... la la la la! Hrm... just like the sale of Telstra.
Then something positive...
Mr Churchill states that he supports Geothermal energy supplies and that they can make a "huge contribution" to delivering energy supplies without emissions.

With regards to Q8, he answered NO, further adding that "these subsidies are essential for the ongoing operation of private health insurance and schemes." Shame that, our taxes propping up private companies when our taxes should be spent on US.!!!!
to the tune of $35 BILLION !
Mr Churchill goes on to tell me that "Taxes support necessary services and infrastructure and should be spent responsibly and with greater accountability for the outcomes achieved".
hrmmm rather inconsistent methinx. Where is the accountability for that $35 Billion of my taxes?

Enclosed was a "how to vote" card.
He has preferenced the Greens LAST, and the ALP second LAST.
