AUSTRALIA'S FIRST ONLINE POLITICAL PARTY ANNOUNCES CANDIDATE - Senator On-Line

By Zoe Lamont,

Australia's only internet-based party, Senator On-Line, today announced its first candidate, the current Mayor of Willoughby, Pat Reilly.

Reilly has joined Senator On-Line (SOL) because he believes the Party’s principles fit well with his political philosophy.  “Senator On-Line addresses the real concerns that real Australians have around the dinner table,” says Reilly.

“In the coming election, Australians need to ask if they are going to be heard, and I can assure them that with Senator On-Line, they will be, online, every time.”

The high profile Mayor of Willoughby since 1997, and Councillor since 1987, Reilly has been dedicated to his constituency and has been widely recognised as a staunch independent.

In a career spanning 30 years of public service, Reilly has been President of Rotary, President of the Northern Sydney Regional Organisation of Councils and Vice President of the Sydney Coastal Councils Group, in addition to servingWilloughby residents for 20 years.

SOL Founder, Berge Der Sarkissian, says Reilly’s independence and well known commitment to the people is highly synergistic with the Party’s beliefs. "Pat is committed to voting in accordance with the clear majority view of Australians on Senate bills, and important issues that affect them all,” says Berge.

“His independence – and his passion, embodies what Senator On-Line is all about.” The SOL site, www.senatoronline.org.au will provide accurate and balanced information on each Senate Bill and important issues being debated in the Senate, giving users the opportunity to make an informed vote on every single issue.

Voters will also be able to access experts’ opinions (both for and against) each bill and current issues on the site. “This is the ‘techno’ version of what I have been trying to do for the past 20 years,” says Reilly.
