Clinton Duncan, independent candidate for Hindmarsh, today attacked the mirror image tax policies of the major parties.

Mr. Duncan, a long term resident of Hindmarsh feels that Australians would be better served if some of the 34 billion dollars in tax cuts were spent on important issues such as fixing the health care system.

The independent said, “The tax policies of the major parties are about buying votes - not building healthy communities.”

Many of the constituents Clinton has spoken with during his campaign say that they would prefer to see the surplus spent on important sectors such as health care.

“Public hospitals are currently under too much pressure and struggle with long emergency room waiting times and low staff levels.” Mr. Duncan said.

“The desperate conditions of our hospitals are an indication of the total lack of funding for health.”

“The health plans of Mr. Howard and Mr. Rudd are about structure and responsibility. They are not about the people in hospital, or worse - the people who can’t even get a bed.”

Clinton Duncan is campaigning for real issues and real people in this election.

“The major parties are not interested in the views of the people out in the community. I am standing up for the issues that people in the community have raised with me.” Mr. Duncan said.

If elected Clinton Duncan will work to hold the government more accountable for their actions.
