Plenty of money but little sense – Rudd’s childcare solution

Clinton Duncan, the independent candidate for Hindmarsh, applauded the opposition for announcing its policy on the important issue of childcare affordability.

However, he criticised the package for failing to offer more support to thousands of Australian’s who care for children outside of traditional childcare centres.

“It is good to see the Labor party helping families struggling to pay high fees for child care, however this package does not recognised the many children in the care of relatives and friends,” said Mr. Duncan.

“While public money is being spent on childcare, many grandparents around Australia are providing care for children without the same financial support.”

“Some parents may choose to send their children to childcare, but we must also recognise that others may want their children with family. We need to provide support for both options so that parents can have the choice,” Mr. Duncan said.

Mr. Duncan said, “It seems that the major parties continue to ignore the real issue and rather focus on large plans that tend to miss the mark.”

“I am here to offer the people of Hindmarsh a real choice in the next election and I am ready to fight for the issues they care about,” the independent said.

He is offering the people of Hindmarsh a real choice in the upcoming federal election.
