Mmmm... Pork! It's finger-lickin' good.

By Editor,

youdecide2007 wants you to tell us what pollies have promised in your neck of the woods.

The pork is flying thick and fast, and we want you to tell us where it's landed in your electorate.

Just let us know (a) what the promise is, (b) how much it's costing and (c) who made it in the comments thread below.

This thread might be a useful reference in a few years time when you need to decide if your MP has delivered! And we'll feature some of the pork and porkies you tell us about on youdecide2007 TV.

(Needless to say, we're not too keen on candidates or campaign workers using this space to spruik their own promises or do down their opponents. That's what the media releases section is for.)

A chance could be a fine thing

I think that the Liberal candidate in the federal seat of Ryan is using the tried and proven tactics, used in all but 1 election/by-election.

Be seen in places where persons are committed to another endeavour, like catching a train or bus, and really have no time to stand and ask curly questions, 1 on 1. Or, have your team standing and waving along a busy main drag in peak hour. Always obey the first commandment of electioneering, NEVER GET CAUGHT.

2nd . It is OK to have a few letter-box drops.

3rd . If you can claim a few state government initiatives as being your programs, all the better. It helps fill out the glossy paper.

4th . NEVER make a promise. This way you can not be accused of breaking one.

5th . Always repeat ad nauseam the campaign slogans that are in vogue.

6th . NEVER give interviews; you don’t have to explain bloopers later on.

7th . NEVER admit that you have no idea of what is planned after the election, if your party wins. [except a big booze-up].

I, for one, would like to know, if you know, Michael Johnson, what exactly is a Liberal Federal government going to spend on what, specifically from federal funding in the seat of Ryan? Not what it may be backing the state government in, but what the feds will initiate that directly targets Kenmore, and the micro-world within a 5 to 7 kilometre radius of Kenmore. You are the only candidate in Ryan that is in a position to have access to this information.

I'm starving!

Per se, I reckon i have some lean times ahead 'cos nobody but nobody has offered me any pork in the seat of Kennedy. Mr Katter reckons he is a shoe-in and does not even need to display "what he is going to do for the electorate". The rest of the candidates are doing the same because they also know that "BOB" is a shoe-in so why bother!
Must be some terrible anti labor people in Ingham and surrounds cos I have really noticed "BOB'S" electoral signs all over the place, followed closely by the Nats and least but not least all the ALP posters have been cut up, pulled down or thrown into the bush. At least the perpetrators could have had the decency to pick up their rubbish!

We have had the usual letters - well, hubby has anyway. Only the Labor candidate wants my vote, but he doesn't send as much stuff as the liberal guy does. I would help with both, but sadly, Hubby has sent all the liberal mail to the recycling bin (its all recycled from last campaign anyway) and I my vote is obviously not important enough that the letter isn't even addressed to Mr and Mrs.

Basically both parties have committed to the Mangrove/Mardi missing link ($80m).

According to my latest letter today, Labor has also commited to a GP Super Centre and the Tuggerah Lake clean up ($20m).

Speaking of Craig Thomson, saw him blazing the trail through the Wyong shopping centre today.

I do remember something about a "7 point plan" and had something to do with the Pacific Highway/Wyong road Round about (which is not the problem, its the traffic lights near the station) but that is about it.
