Family First gives Pauline Hanson a chance as she launches yet another attack on Muslims

By Tracee McPate,

Queensland Democrat Senator Andrew Bartlett has attacked Family First for doing a Senate preference deal with Pauline Hanson, who has repeated her extremist and destructive calls to stop all migration of Muslims into Australia.

“The Family First party clearly believes that families don’t come first if they are Muslim, African or Asian families,” Senator Bartlett said.

“This sort of prejudice and ignorance repeatedly expressed by Pauline Hanson is incredibly damaging to our social fabric, as well as incredibly hurtful to Muslim Australians. “It should be unequivocally opposed, not rewarded with preferences.”

“Family First in Queensland is directing their Senate preferences to Pauline Hanson after the Coalition, but ahead of all the other realistic contenders.

Pauline Hanson has directed her preferences to Family First ahead of all other serious contenders. Five of the Democrats’ twenty-nine House of Representatives candidates in Queensland are Muslim Australians.

“If the swing away from the Coalition is as big as some polls predict there is a real chance that Family First’s Senate preferences would then flow to Pauline Hanson should she outpoll them as opinion polls predict.

“Combined with favourable preference allocations from a range of smaller groups like the Shooters Party, two different Fishing Parties, the non-Custodial Parents Party, One Nation, the LDP, the Carers Party and some independents, there is no doubt Pauline Hanson is now a credible chance if she gains a reasonable primary vote herself.

Senator Bartlett, whose seat is being targeted by Ms Hanson, says the Senate preference tickets once again showed voters would be best served numbering their own preferences below the line in the Senate.

“There are some surprising decisions by a range of parties. For example, the Greens have preferenced the pro-gun, pro-nuclear, pro-privatisation Liberty & Democracy Party ahead of the Democrats,” Senator Bartlett said.

THANK GOD ! {Whatever form he/she takes in Human existence} for blokes like you in Australia. It ISN'T the winning side of the polls that I see, but the 47% who support the ATTITUDE of the others, that I can't understand for the life of me! Do they really want us to be an arrogant racist intolerant mob in the minds of our Asian neighbours.Hey you fools it only takes a spark to ignite a war.THE ARROGANCE of American Leadership defying the U.N. and going into IRAQ, could easily be followed by a Powerful Asian Nation, not having a liking for oiL- BUT IRON ORE and Uranium, as a side issue.`Our head of State, the Queen is in LONDON, Will she help us if they invaded.Or the Americans who have been thinking twice about interfering in the World abroad and playing policeman!

whingers and whiners

Family First has the right to preference whoever they like. Before the Democrats and Greens take the higher ground, they should explain why they actively exclude Family First all the time. Family First would be stupid to give preferences to groups that tries to exclude them.

Hypocrisy of the Greens

By: zapkvr (Registered ) on 19-11-2007 06:51

The Green preference Labor everywhere even when there are decent independent candidates. The Greens have sold out there principles simply to get into Parliament. Reminds me of Senator Richardson's dictum "whatever it takes"
